ALEX LLOP
Alex Llop is a Spanish designer and the founder of LLOP Madrid. After more than twenty years working in the international fashion industry, including time with Gianni Versace and nearly two decades with Dolce & Gabbana in their haute couture atelier, he returned to Spain to develop a more personal and slower creative practice rooted in craft and heritage.
Born in Catalonia and deeply connected to the landscapes of the Empordà, Llop’s work often draws from everyday Mediterranean culture and traditional textiles. His clothing collections reinterpret the farcell, a humble checked cloth historically used by farmers to carry goods, transforming it into contemporary garments. This idea also connects with the Japanese tradition of furoshiki, the art of wrapping and transporting objects using fabric.
Alongside his own clothing collections, Llop founded LLOP Madrid in 2021 in the Barrio de las Letras. The gallery presents a curated selection of Spanish artists and makers working across ceramics, sculpture, lighting, glass and design objects, all united by a commitment to craftsmanship, material honesty and a contemporary Mediterranean sensibility.
