CATERINA ROMA
A ceramic practice deeply rooted in material exploration, fire, and slow, intuitive making. Moving between functional objects and sculptural forms, the work emerges from a direct dialogue with clay, ash, and time.
Shaped through wood-firing processes, often using anagama kilns, flame and ash become active elements in the final surface. Each firing unfolds over days and nights, allowing natural forces to leave their mark through textures, crusts, and tonal variations that make every piece unique and irreproducible.
Guided by a profound respect for traditional techniques and natural materials, the practice embraces unpredictability and imperfection. The work balances rawness and refinement, offering objects with both a strong physical presence and a quiet, contemplative quality.
