FRAN ANIORTE
Fran Aniorte is a Spanish artist and designer whose practice moves between Barcelona and Istanbul. With a background in product design and interior architecture, and years of international experience in cities such as London and Berlin, his work bridges art, contemporary craft, and collectible design.
After a long career in digital and commercial design, Aniorte returned to working with his hands, choosing ceramics as a way to reconnect with material, gesture, and intuition. In his studio, he reinterprets essential Mediterranean typologies such as plates, bowls, and fruit stands, transforming them into sculptural objects. His characteristic forms echo classical references, like the Greek kylix, while their surfaces explode with spontaneous, expressive brushstrokes inspired by Southern European painted ceramics.
The result is a body of work that transcends functionality. His pieces stand between art object and design, combining simplicity, bold colour, and a visceral energy. What began as a personal exploration has grown organically into a distinctive voice within contemporary Spanish ceramics, expanding toward limited-edition furniture and collectible design.
