LAURA RAMÍREZ

Laura Ramírez is a ceramic artist based in Madrid whose work explores themes of displacement, belonging, and the deep connection between material and place. Her sculptural practice is rooted in a slow, intuitive approach to clay, where form develops gradually through repeated stages of building and refinement.

Influenced by her time studying and living in Australia, Laura’s work draws on the Aboriginal concept of Country as a living relationship between people, land, and all forms of life. Her pieces are inspired by organic and cellular structures, particularly organelles, reflecting the shared patterns that unite all living beings. Working primarily with grogged stoneware, surfaces are often left unglazed, allowing the natural tone and texture of the clay to remain visible.

Through subtle traces of the making process, Laura’s work reveals a quiet dialogue between touch, time, and transformation. Each piece stands between the utilitarian and the sculptural, offering a meditative reflection on material, process, and the rhythms of the natural world.
