THE GLASS APPRENTICE

The Glass Apprentice is the project of glassblower and designer Pròsper Riba Vilardell, based in Barcelona. Rooted in the tradition of blown glass, his work explores the expressive and sculptural potential of the material through geometry, light, color, and form. Each piece reflects a balance between technical precision and playful experimentation, where glass becomes both structure and atmosphere.

Trained in design at Escola Massana, Pròsper developed his practice through an extensive international learning journey across the United States, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, France, and Germany, with a strong influence from the Studio Glass Movement. The name The Glass Apprentice reflects his philosophy of continuous learning, where experimentation remains central to the making process, combining Northern European craftsmanship with a Mediterranean, exploratory spirit.

Today, working from his studio in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona, Pròsper collaborates with cultural institutions and design professionals while producing his own collections. His work has been recognized nationally and internationally, including the Premi Nacional d’Artesania Emprèn by the Generalitat de Catalunya and selection in AD Best of Spain.
